In times of need, access to the right resources can be a lifeline for families, helping them overcome challenges to build a brighter future. In the past year, Sierra Community House provided more than 714 community members with family support services. From housing assistance to educational programs, Sierra Community House is the bridge that ensures no family faces their struggles alone.

In this post, we’ll explore how Alondra Delgadillo, our Family Support Manager works diligently to connect families with the services they need and empower them to thrive.

What are the most common resources that families in our community need, and how do you identify these needs?

We assist families with a range of essential services, including health care navigation, rental and utility assistance, and government benefits. Our approach begins with asking the right questions to fully understand each family’s needs. This allows us to provide the most effective support, both through our internal resources at Sierra Community House and by making appropriate referrals to external services.

What challenges do you face when trying to connect families with the resources they need, and how do you overcome them?

One of the challenges we often encounter is families struggling to apply for assistance due to language barriers. To address this, our family advocates provide crucial language support, helping these families understand the resources available to them and guiding them through the application process. This personalized assistance ensures that language is never a barrier to accessing the help they need.

In what ways does Sierra Community House empower families to advocate for themselves and access resources independently in the future?

We focus on ensuring that families are connected to essential services that are vital for their stability, such as housing and financial support. By addressing these critical needs, we help create a solid foundation for families to build a more secure and stable future.

After giving a thorough overview of how we can support them, we encourage them to participate in our wellness workshops and community events. Lastly, we make it clear that our doors are always open. Whether they choose to call us or visit one of our locations, they can access the help they need at any time.

Sierra Community House goes beyond simply providing resources; it’s about fostering hope, stability, and resilience within our community. By connecting families with the essential tools and support they need, we help them not only survive but also thrive. To learn more about our programs, contact (530) 546-0952.
