Maribel and her two young children were facing homelessness.
Recently, Maribel reached out for help. Your generosity made it possible for her to get back on her feet.
Maribel is a mother of two young children. She was a victim of domestic violence having endured physical, emotional and financial abuse. Facing homelessness and without financial resources to pay for rent, diapers for her seven-month-old or other living essentials, Maribel reached out to a Family Advocate at Sierra Community House.
You have already made a difference in Maribel’s life and others like her facing homelessness. Donations from generous supporters provided stabilizing supports, including:
- Safe shelter
- Food
- Financial assistance
- Warm clothing
- Diapers & living essentials
The team at Sierra Community House helped Maribel create a safety plan and worked together to address the family’s basic needs. She was supported through the process of identifying and securing affordable housing in North Lake Tahoe, which she has called home the past five years. Sierra Community House provided financial assistance to help cover the deposit and rent.
When she was ready, Maribel was connected to the agency’s Mediation and Legal Services Program to provide consultation to her and her ex-partner around child custody matters.
Maribel expressed her gratitude by saying: “Sierra Community House provided me with the opportunity to start a new life in a place I love and call home. I never dreamed this was possible. Thank you!”
