With support from the Katz Amsterdam Foundation and Charitable Trust and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation
Truckee/Tahoe — November 2025 — Navigating complex systems and accessing health and mental wellness resources can be challenging for many families, especially when language or cultural barriers exist, Sierra Community House is proud to share a year of strengthened bilingual and bicultural mental health services, showing that when culturally specific resources are available, the entire community benefits.
This work is supported by the generosity of the Katz Amsterdam Foundation and Charitable Trust and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF), allowing Sierra Community House to expand Peer Support services and continue its long-standing Promotora Program, a trusted community resource connecting families to wellness, education, and other vital services.
Over the past year, the Community Engagement team delivered more than 1,599 services, including peer counseling, Latino outreach, parenting classes, children’s workshops, and wellness programs. These efforts helped families access guidance, emotional support, and resources, while also reducing isolation, stigma, and fear.
“Our Peer Support team and Promotoras have walked alongside this community for years, sometimes in big, visible ways and sometimes quietly, one conversation at a time,” said Paul Bancroft, Executive Director at Sierra Community House. “This funding helped us expand that work when families needed it most. It didn’t just provide services, but it strengthened trust, connection, and belonging across our community.”
