Teresa Crimmens serves as Interim Executive Director beginning March 27 as programs and services continue at full strength

TRUCKEE, Calif. Sierra Community House announces a leadership transition, with Executive Director Paul Bancroft concluding his tenure on March 26th and Teresa Crimmens stepping in as Interim Executive Director on March 27th.

Bancroft has accepted the position of Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability with the Town of Truckee, keeping him rooted in the community he has long served. All Sierra Community House programs and services continue without interruption.

On behalf of the Board, President Lisa Boyd reflected: "Paul's departure brings with it a mix of sadness and deep gratitude. His fingerprints are on everything we have built, and we are fully confident in Teresa's steady hand as we move forward."

Bancroft's nearly two decades at Sierra Community House were defined by one consequential bet: that four separate nonprofits could become something stronger together. In 2019, he helped lead the merger of the Family Resource Center of Truckee, North Tahoe Family Resource Center, Tahoe SAFE Alliance, and Project MANA into a single organization. The goal was straightforward: to provide holistic, trauma informed services to stop making families in crisis navigate multiple doors to get help. It worked.

Today, Sierra Community House serves more than 8,000 community members a year. In the past year alone, the organization provided nearly 372,000 meals, supported 357 survivors of domestic and sexual violence, assisted 505 people with legal services, delivered violence prevention education to 5,800 youth and adults, and awarded over $613,000 in direct housing assistance.

"It has been the honor of my professional life," Bancroft said. "What we have built together is a testament to the generosity of our staff, partners, and donors — and to the resilience of the people we serve."

Crimmens has been part of the organization since 2015, serving as the Executive Director of the Family Resource Center of Truckee where she played an integral role in the creation of Sierra Community House. She has served as the Deputy Executive Director at Sierra Community House since its inception. She knows the staff, the partners, and the community deeply.

"Our focus remains exactly where it has always been," Crimmens said. "Our team is strong, and our mission does not change."

Sierra Community House remains committed to serving the people of North Lake Tahoe and Truckee who count on the organization for hunger relief, legal aid, immigration assistance, family support, and services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
