Sierra Community House (SCH) is seeking proposals from experienced mural artists for the creation of a compelling, indoor mural in the Hunger Relief Community Pantry located in Truckee. The mural will serve as a visual representation of the food security mission of the Hunger Relief Program and is intended to inspire, welcome, and inform the individuals and families we serve.

The mural site is a high wall inside the pantry space, approximately 20 feet above ground, and will require ladders for access. Artists should consider both the visibility of the mural from the pantry floor and the emotional and thematic tone of the space.

Project Goals
The mural should:

  1. Visually celebrate the mission of food justice and food access in the Tahoe-Truckee region.
  2. Reflect Sierra Community House values: connection, empathy, empowerment, integrity, social justice.
  3. Engage pantry clients and volunteers emotionally and thematically.
  4. Add vibrancy and warmth to a service-oriented space.
