Sierra Community House’s Board of Directors is made up of smart, passionate, and community-minded individuals who have committed to help us empower our North Tahoe and Truckee through family strengthening, crisis intervention, hunger relief, and legal services.

We sat down with Lisa Boyd, the newest board member at Sierra Community House, and delved into her motivations, aspirations, and the unique strengths she brings to the table. Lisa’s background encompasses social impact, corporate responsibility, and nonprofit management, with significant experience gained from her tenure at Lyft. During her time there, she led company-wide strategies for Social Impact, Philanthropy, and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Reporting. This expertise directly correlates with her role on the board, where she will provide invaluable guidance and support in advancing Sierra Community House’s initiatives. Her desire to join Sierra Community House’s board is rooted in her passion for community involvement and her desire to make a lasting impact.

When asked “What motivated you to join the Sierra Community House board?”, Lisa shared her deep connection to the North Tahoe area, where she has resided for about four years. “I love it here,” she expressed, emphasizing her excitement about raising her family in such a special community. Having always been involved in community work, Lisa was actively seeking avenues to give back. Through her research, she discovered Sierra Community House and was captivated by the diverse array of programs we offer.

Lisa is particularly enthusiastic about our food access work. She commended the team’s efforts in shifting strategies towards user choice and willingness to try new things.

She envisions leveraging her position on the board to ensure the continued excellence of SCH’s work by asking strategic questions, helping create new opportunities for fundraising, and ensuring long-term financial responsibility. Looking ahead, the board will provide additional strategic pushes and support will ensure that Sierra Community House is doing the best work possible.
