Press Release: NORTHSTAR, KIRKWOOD, HEAVENLY THROUGH VAIL RESORTS EPICPROMISE COMMITS TO A $150,000 MULT-YEAR DONATION TO SIERRA COMMUNITY HOUSE

April 8th, 2024

$150,00 over three years will support hunger relief, crisis intervention services, family strengthening services in North Tahoe

North Lake Tahoe, CA –Sierra Community House is pleased to announce that Northstar, Kirkwood, and Heavenly Resorts through Vail Resorts EpicPromise has committed to donating $150,000 to the organization over the course of three years. The generous donation will help empower the non-profit to build out its programs that provide hunger relief, legal aid, immigration assistance, and family-strengthening programs, as well as direct services to victims of intimate partner/domestic violence, sexual, and child abuse.

Vail Resorts, which operates Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood in Lake Tahoe, has been a long-time supporter of Sierra Community House’s vision of creating an inclusive, safe, healthy community where everyone flourishes. In addition to the monetary donation, they have gifted hundreds of ski lift tickets to the non-profit over the years, which have been used in successful fundraising efforts.

Additionally, Doug Burnett, Northstar’s Director of Base Area & Village Operations, currently serves as Treasurer on Sierra Community House’s Board of Directors.

“Through our partnership with Sierra Community House, we are honored to contribute to the thriving and inclusive community we all envision,” said Burnett. “This work underscores our collective dedication to supporting essential services in North Tahoe, and together, we’re making a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors and fostering a safer, healthier, and more connected community.”

“Over the past year, we helped keep our community safer, healthier, and more connected by delivering 26,783 services to more than 5,000 community members,” said Paul Bancroft, Executive Director at Sierra Community House. “This would not be possible without the community’s investment in our mission. Without support like this donation from Vail Resorts EpicPromise, our work isn’t possible. We’re grateful to our neighbors at Northstar, Heavenly and Kirkwood who realize that we’re all in this together.”
