Did you know that today, May 28th, is World Hunger Day? It’s a day to recognize the pervasive issue of hunger that affects millions of people worldwide, including right here in our community. In the North Tahoe/Truckee area, Sierra Community House is on the front lines, providing supplemental nutritious food to 625 households every week. Remarkably, 85% of these households have children under 18.

However, to continue meeting this essential need, especially now as we face nearly $500,000 in federal and state budget cuts, we need your help.

How You Can Help

Become a Recurring Donor with Our 238 Plate Club

One of the most impactful ways to support us is by joining our 238 Plate Club. This initiative is inspired by the $2.38 it costs to provide one community member with a nutritious and balanced meal. As a recurring donor, you can choose a giving level that suits your capacity. This giving model allows us to partner with local food banks and grocers, ensuring we can provide high-quality meals at the lowest possible cost.

Other Ways to Give

Virtual Food Drive and One-Time Donations

Participate in a virtual food drive or make a one-time donation. Donating online streamlines the process and provides you with instant receipts for your tax-deductible donation.
