Crimmens brings more than a decade of organizational leadership, including a central role in the 2019 merger that created Sierra Community House
TRUCKEE, Calif. — Today, Sierra Community House announces the appointment of Teresa Crimmens as Executive Director. Crimmens has been part of the organization since 2015 and steps into the permanent role at the mission-focused organization deeply rooted in the community it serves.
Teresa Crimmens knows Sierra Community House the way you know something you helped build from the ground up. She has spent over a decade making sure families get fed, survivors find safety, and neighbors have someone in their corner.
In 2015, Crimmens joined what was then the Family Resource Center of Truckee as Operations Manager. She grew into the Executive Director role there, and when the conversation began about uniting four local nonprofits into a single organization, she was at the table helping make it happen. Since the merger, Crimmens has served as Deputy Executive Director, helping lead a decade of growth that has made Sierra Community House one of the most trusted organizations in the region.
“This one was not a hard decision,” said Board President Lisa Boyd. “Teresa has been showing up for this organization and this community for years. We are so excited to see what she does with this next chapter.”
“I am so proud of what this team has built and so grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me,” Crimmens said. “This community shows up for its neighbors every single day, and that is exactly what we will keep doing.”
Today, Sierra Community House serves more than 8,000 community members a year, providing nearly 372,000 meals, supporting 357 survivors of domestic and sexual violence, assisting 505 people with legal services, delivering violence prevention education to 5,800 youth and adults, and awarding over $613,000 in direct housing assistance annually.
Paul Bancroft—who served the organization for 18 years, the past 11 as Executive Director, before concluding his tenure in March to join the Town of Truckee as Director of Neighborhood Services and Sustainability—expressed confidence in what comes next.
“I have watched Teresa’s commitment to this organization and this community for years,” Bancroft said. “She is the right person for this role. Sierra Community House could not be in better hands.”
Sierra Community House remains committed to serving the people of North Lake Tahoe and Truckee who count on the organization for hunger relief, legal aid, immigration assistance, family support, and services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
